Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (P2 – P5, S1 – S3)

The objective of the course is to prepare international students to excel at the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) examination conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore.

The objective of the course is to prepare international students to excel at the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) examination conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore. AEIS is a centralised admissions exercise conducted by MOE for international students who intend to enter a Singapore Government School. The course component modules focus on English and Mathematics as the AEIS aims to assess the student’s English literacy, numeracy and reasoning abilities.

Course Outcome

  • Attain a strong foundation in English at the targeted level.

  • Attain a strong foundation in Mathematics at the targeted level.

  • Able to relate comfortably to the local school context and racial mix.

  • Able to appreciate the different races and cultures in Singapore

  • Able to have a certain level of self-efficacy in taking responsibility in learning

Course Structure

    • Duration of study:
      Twenty-four (24) weeks (5 days a week, 6 hours per day)

      English and Mathematics

      Classroom based learning with added facilitation and discussion to allow holistic learning

The Learning Outcomes:

    • listen to, read and view with understanding, accuracy and critical appreciation, a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts from print, non-print and electronic sources.

    • speak, write and make presentations in internationally acceptable English that is grammatical, fluent and appropriate for purpose, audience, context and culture. At higher levels of proficiency, pupils will speak and write for academic purposes and creative expression, using language that is inventive and imaginative.

    • think through, interpret and evaluate fiction and non-fiction texts from print and electronic sources to analyse how language is used to evoke responses and construct meaning; how information is presented; and how different modes of presentation create impact.

    • interact effectively in English with people from their own or different cultures.

    • Produce imaginative and creative work arising from mathematical ideas.

    • Develop the abilities to reason logically, to communicate mathematically, and to learn cooperatively and independently.

Graduation Requirements

 

Upon achieving the requirements at the end of the course, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

    • A pass in the module; and 

    • 2) 90% attendance
